This is a really simple TV stand made using pine posts and some plywood board. It actually started off as a small general storage shelf type thing for my bedroom. But, it has since become a firm fixture of the living room.
It was really simple to make, and one of the first projects that I had completed. I didn’t particularly set out with any intention of making something, other than using up some leftover bits that I had lying around.
This made it quite fun to create as I basically made it up as I went along. As a result of this, it is probably one of my favourite pieces as I had such low expectations when I started!
The frame for the TV stand was really simple, using the wooden posts to create a basic but firm base. I screwed the the two end pieces together using some longer pine pieces to give it a longer appearance overall.
I then cut some plywood ‘tops’ to length, and cut out some small spaces in the corners where the board could fit over the pine posts. These boards then sat upon the frame.

Initially I left the boards in their natural colour. I decided they looked a bit plain so I painted them white. I think this helped to give it a nice contrast to the wooden frame.
Overall, there were very few components needed. Just the pine pieces, plywood board and enough screws to hold it all together.
As a result of it’s simplicity, the whole thing only took a couple of hours to put together. The thing that took the most time was waiting for the paint to dry.
For such a simple piece of furniture, it sits really nicely in the corner. And most importantly, it does a sterling job of supporting the TV!
